The Challenge
Pistols Brewery began as a full-scale rebrand of an existing Ottawa craft brewery. The brand lacked differentiation, cohesion, and a compelling story in an increasingly competitive market. The task was to rebuild it from the ground up, developing a distinctive identity with edge, atmosphere, and the flexibility to extend across cans, merchandise, and taproom experiences.
The Solution
I rebuilt Pistols Brewery from the ground up, developing a bold, immersive brand system rooted in frontier grit and Western lore. The primary logo draws inspiration from the iconic silhouette of the Colt Single Action Army revolver (AKA The Peacemaker), reinterpreted as a clean, graphic mark rather than a literal depiction, and paired with a Bronco-style wordmark for a modern, scalable execution.


Beyond the primary mark, I developed a full suite of logo variations, including icon breakouts, text-only lockups, specialty typographic treatments, and branded ornamental elements, designed to expand seamlessly across packaging, merchandise, taproom graphics, and digital platforms. The result is a cohesive, ownable identity system built for flexibility, scale, and a strong, unmistakable point of view.











This tagline sets the tone for everything that follows Pistols Brewery. It frames the brand as rugged and self-assured, carving out its own space in the craft beer landscape and inviting customers into a world built on grit, independence, and character.
On the website, the frontier comes alive. Strategic product design and storytelling extend the brand across cans, merchandise, taproom graphics, and digital touchpoints—creating a cohesive, ownable identity with presence, personality, and room to grow. This is more than beer; it’s a brand built to own its territory.










I crafted a comprehensive brand guide to lock in consistency across every touchpoint, logos, typography, colour, icons, branded ornaments, and applications from packaging to digital. The amended version below shows how the Pistols Brewery identity flexes with purpose, maintaining a bold, cohesive presence wherever it appears.
The Pistols brand doesn’t just live on cans and merchandise; it shows up in the community. Through sponsorships and partnerships with the Ottawa Redblacks, Black Creek Rodeo, and support of Wounded Warriors Canada, the brewery extends its frontier spirit beyond branding and into meaningful local engagement. These partnerships reinforce the brand’s connection to sport, grit, and resilience, aligning authentically with organizations that reflect the same character and community pride at the heart of Pistols Brewery.
